Senior Mechanical Engineer – Aerospace & Defence Location: Basildon (Hybrid – ~4 days on-site) Rate: £70.00 per hour Hours: 37 Hours per week  Security Clearance: SC Cleared (Sole UK National) Contract Type: Temporary contract until March 2026 with possibility of extension Overview An excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a high-profile Aerospace & Defence programme, supporting the development of next-generation Missile Seeker systems. You’ll contribute to the design and delivery of advanced electro-mechanical products within a multi-disciplinary engineering team. Key Responsibilities Deliver high-quality mechanical design solutions to technical and international standards. Conduct detailed design work including calculations, tolerance studies, and drawing generation (BS8888 / GD&T). Create and maintain BoMs using Teamcenter PLM. Support design reviews and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery of solutions. Apply DfX principles across manufacturing, assembly, and testing stages.Skills & Experience Degree or equivalent in Mechanical/Technical discipline. Strong background in electro-mechanical or EO product design. Proficient in PTC Creo 3D CAD. Experience with structural design, electrical grounding, and materials selection. Knowledge of jigs, fixtures, tooling, and cable harness design. Experience in Aerospace or Defence environments essential.Desirable: First-pass thermal analysis capability. Additional Information Full-time hybrid role (Basildon site). UK travel and occasional overnight stays may be required.
