Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer - Aerospace (Yeovil, UK) I'm working with a leading global engineering organisation who are seeking a Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer to join their Life Support Systems Engineering team. This role plays a critical part in developing technology that keeps aircrew safe at high altitudes and under high acceleration "G" forces. This is a fantastic opportunity for an engineer who enjoys working on the full system life cycle - from concept and design through to testing, certification, and in-service support - while collaborating with international teams and customers. What you'll be doing Taking ownership of the complete product life cycle of advanced life support systems Leading system architecture definition, development and detailed design, working closely with cross-functional specialists in safety, electronics, testing and manufacturing Reviewing customer requirements and ensuring these flow into system and equipment specifications Defining compliance methods and coordinating verification and qualification activities Acting as a technical point of contact for customers, ensuring alignment between their requirements and system performance Coordinating with global engineering resources and external suppliers Supporting test activities and providing in-service support for deployed systems What we're looking for Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering (or similar) with relevant experience Background in mechanical systems design and development, ideally with exposure to pneumatic or thermodynamic systems Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, particularly in interpreting test results Experience with requirements management, validation and verification Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines and act as a customer-facing technical lead Nice to have Experience with life support systems, environmental control systems, or other pneumatic/mechanical products Familiarity with system safety, reliability and testing processes Knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics and simulation tools Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS Ability to mentor junior engineers and lead project work streams Why join?
