Role: Mechanical Maintenance Engineer Location: Pontefract Area Shifts: Continental (days and nights) Salary: £45,000 We’re recruiting for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a well-performing and well-invested manufacturing site based in the Pontefract area. As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you’ll be responsible for maintaining, fault finding, and improving mechanical systems across fast-paced production lines. Working on a continental shift pattern, you’ll provide critical engineering support on both days and nights, helping to ensure minimal downtime and optimal machine performance. Key Responsibilities of the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer: * Carrying out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance on production equipment * Diagnosing and resolving mechanical faults to minimise downtime * Supporting breakdown response and root cause analysis * Working closely with other engineers and production teams to ensure smooth operations * Complying with health & safety, food safety, and site engineering standards Key Requirements: * Time-served or qualified Mechanical Maintenance Engineer (NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent) * Previous experience in a manufacturing or FMCG environment * Strong mechanical fault-finding and hands-on repair skills * Comfortable working on a continental shift pattern (days & nights) * Proactive and team-oriented with a solution-driven mindset If you're looking for a role where you can make a real difference and be part of a well-established engineering team—this is it.
