Role Overview

As a Children s Support Worker, you will provide direct care and emotional support to children living within our residential settings. You will play a key role in ensuring the safety, well-being, and development of each child, helping them to achieve their potential and live fulfilling lives. This role requires empathy, patience, resilience, and a commitment to safeguarding children at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day care and support for children in line with individual care plans.

  • Promote each child s physical, emotional, and social development through structured activities and daily routines.

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with children, encouraging self-esteem and independence.

  • Support children in attending education, leisure activities, and appointments.

  • Assist with life skills development, including personal care, cooking, budgeting, and household tasks where appropriate.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including daily logs, incident reports, and safeguarding documentation.

  • Work closely with colleagues, families, social workers, and other professionals to ensure holistic support.

  • Adhere to safeguarding procedures and ensure the protection of all children in your care.

  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and relevant regulatory standards.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people in a residential, care or similar setting.

  • Understanding of safeguarding, child protection and professional boundaries.

  • Strong communication, teamwork, and relationship-building skills.

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging situations with sensitivity.

  • Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins as required.

Qualifications

  • NVQ/QCF in Children and Young People s Workforce or equivalent (or willingness to work towards this).

  • Up-to-date safeguarding and first aid training (preferred; training can be provided).
