Senior Legal Cashier

Job Title: Senior Legal Cashier Location: Can be in Edinburgh or Glasgow (Hybrid) Salary: Competitive, based on experience Are you a skilled Legal Cashier looking for your next opportunity in a dynamic and respected law firm? Our client - a long-established, highly regarded firm based in the heart of Glasgow or Edinburgh - is expanding its finance team and looking for an experienced Legal Cashier to take on a pivotal role. If you're passionate about precision, compliance, and You’ll be the financial heartbeat of the firm, ensuring all cashiering processes run smoothly and in full compliance with the Law Society of Scotland's Accounts Rules. Responsibilities will include: Managing daily legal cashiering operations – ensuring transactions are accurate, timely, and fully compliant Handling client and office account transactions, including receipts, payments, bank transfers, and reconciliations Keeping client ledgers accurate and up to date Collaborating with fee earners and support teams to resolve queries and ensure seamless billing processes Preparing and submitting VAT returns, reconciling bank statements, and generating financial reports Supporting the year-end accounting process and liaising with auditors Managing relationships with banks and overseeing the firm’s financial accounts Playing a key role in financial risk management and internal audit procedures Identifying and implementing improvements to systems and processesWhat We’re Looking For: Solid experience as a Legal Cashier, ideally within a law firm setting In-depth knowledge of the Law Society of Scotland Accounts Rules Proficiency in legal accounting software (e.g., Eclipse, LawWare, or similar) Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy Excellent time management and organisation skills A proactive communicator who’s confident working across teams and resolving issues independentlyThis is a fantastic opportunity to join a firm that values its people, offers the flexibility of hybrid working, fosters a collaborative culture, and boasts a strong reputation across the Scottish legal sector.
