Are you an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in the rail sector? Do you want to take ownership of cost management, billing, and commercial operations for a growing regional division, all from a dedicated office base? An established infrastructure and civil engineering business supporting major off-track rail projects across the UK is seeking a
Quantity Surveyor
to join their commercial team. Based in their
Grantham office
, you will play a key role in supporting project delivery through accurate cost control, contract management, and commercial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare accurate estimates, quotations, and tender documents
-
Manage client billing and ensure invoicing aligns with contractual terms
-
Handle
COWD (Cost of Work Delivered)
and prepare
payment applications
-
Strong knowledge of building contracts and rail frameworks
-
Conduct accurate
spend forecasting
to support budget control and financial planning
-
Monitor project costs, budgets, and performance metrics
-
Assist with procurement processes and subcontractor management
-
Support project teams with commercial insight and risk mitigation
-
Liaise with clients to resolve commercial queries and agree final accounts
-
Maintain comprehensive commercial and financial records
-
Generate detailed commercial reports and KPI dashboards for senior management
What We re Looking For:
-
Proven experience in a Quantity Surveyor role within the rail sector
-
Strong knowledge of commercial contracts, cost control, and procurement processes
-
Familiarity with MTSQS Portal and National Schedule of Rates (NSR) is desirable
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
-
Excellent attention to detail, negotiation, and communication skills
-
Relevant degree or equivalent professional qualification in quantity surveying or construction management
-
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
