Job Opportunity: Senior Procurement Manager Location: Hybrid / London (3 days onsite) Contract Length: 6 Months Day Rate: £625 (Umbrella – MAX) IR35 Status: Inside IR35 Overview: Are you an experienced procurement professional with rail sector expertise? We’re recruiting for a Senior Procurement Manager to join a high-profile national rail programme. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead complex procurement activity with a strong focus on value, compliance, and strategic delivery. Key Responsibilities: * Develop and enhance project-specific procurement strategies aligned with the National Programme objectives. * Lead the full procurement lifecycle: pre-qualification, tender management, contract negotiation, and preparation. * Advise on procurement issues across a diverse asset portfolio. * Support main contractor procurement and influence subcontracting strategies where applicable. * Ensure full compliance with legal, regulatory, and corporate governance frameworks (incl. EU Directives). * Manage preferred suppliers and foster collaborative, value-driven relationships. * Drive cost reduction, identify efficiencies, and help deliver against portfolio-wide savings targets. * Monitor and measure supplier performance to support continuous improvement initiatives. Essential Experience: * Strong knowledge of ETCS (European Train Control System) and demonstrable rail industry experience. * Proven track record in procurement and contract management, including negotiation and strategic planning. * Sound commercial awareness and understanding of the supplier market. * Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. * Knowledge of EU procurement directives and relevant health, safety, and environmental contract requirements.
