SEND Teaching Assistant

Career Teachers have an exciting opportunity for an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join the staff at a fantastic Primary School located within South Derbyshire. This role is to commence in September 2025 for the full academic year.

The desirable candidate will be proactive, energetic and have experience working within Key Stage 1 classes as well as experience working with Special Educational Needs. You will be responsible for providing 1:1 support with a child who is non-verbal.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting students physical, social, and emotional well-being with an empathetic and nurturing approach
• Offering a firm and consistent approach
• Building positive relationships with the children
• Working as part of a team

Requirements:

• Have a strong understanding of the primary curriculum particularly in numeracy and literacy
• Experience working with children, preferably those with additional needs
• A desire to show every child that they matter and that they have potential
• Have encouraging behaviour techniques
• Be able to demonstrate exciting and engaging ways to teach children in both small groups or on a 1:1 basis
