This is an exciting opportunity for a Graduate / Assistant Town Planner to gain hands-on experience in a busy and collaborative planning team. The role provides a strong foundation for career development, with mentoring and support towards achieving RTPI chartership.



Responsibilities

As a Graduate / Assistant Town Planner, you will:

  • Assist with the preparation and coordination of planning applications and supporting documentation.
  • Undertake planning research and analysis to inform strategies.
  • Liaise with local planning authorities, internal teams, and external consultants.
  • Support the planning team on both operational and strategic planning matters.
  • Work towards professional accreditation with full RTPI support.

You will play a key role in supporting projects related to waste management, infrastructure, and renewable energy, contributing to environmental sustainability and planning delivery.



Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree in Town Planning or a closely related discipline (RTPI accredited preferred).
  • Strong communication, organisational, and analytical skills.
  • A genuine interest in infrastructure and environmental planning.
  • Previous planning experience or a placement (desirable but not essential).
  • A positive attitude, team spirit, and eagerness to develop a career in planning.


Day-to-Day

Your daily activities will include:

  • Collaborating with colleagues to prepare and submit planning applications.
  • Conducting research to support planning strategies and decision-making.
  • Engaging with local authorities and stakeholders to facilitate project approvals.
  • Participating in team meetings and contributing to project discussions.
  • Developing your professional skills and working towards RTPI chartership.
