Design Engineer Team Leader

Job Title: Design Engineer Team Lead Location: Portsmouth Salary: £38-42k Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent Are you a hands-on design professional with strong project management skills and experience in design-to-manufacture? We are looking for a Design Project Manager to lead and oversee our design department, ensuring high-quality output, on-time delivery, and alignment with business goals. Key Responsibilities: Lead the day-to-day planning and oversight of the design department's workload to meet deadlines and budget targets. Mentor and guide a team of talented designers, providing feedback, fostering growth, and ensuring high standards of performance. Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Production, and Customer Support teams to deliver cohesive, practical, and effective design solutions. Ensure all designs meet company standards and client expectations through rigorous QA processes. Utilize 2D and 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks essential) to contribute to design development and review. Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, incorporating feedback into design improvements. Play a key role in shaping long-term design strategies aligned with market trends and company objectives. Required Experience & Skills: Proficient in 2D & 3D CAD design software - SolidWorks is essential Strong background in design for manufacture Demonstrated ability to manage projects independently, delivering on time and to specification Practical, hands-on technical skills A minimum of NVQ Level 2 in a relevant qualification Basic electrical knowledge is highly desirable Why Apply?
