Food Technology Teacher – Independent School near Bridgwater – September 2025 Start Permanent, Full-Time Role in a Holistic Learning Environment Teaching KS3–GCSE Food Preparation & Nutrition Modern Kitchens and Health-Focused Curriculum A values-led and progressive independent school near Bridgwater is looking to appoint a Food Technology Teacher from September 2025. This is a full-time, permanent role teaching across KS3 and KS4, encouraging healthy living, global awareness, and practical life skills. The school has recently upgraded its teaching kitchens and is proud of its curriculum that integrates sustainability, culinary skills, and nutritional science. The successful candidate will be responsible for both theory and practical delivery of the subject, and have the opportunity to contribute to enrichment activities like after-school cooking clubs, garden-to-table initiatives, and community events. Key Responsibilities * Plan and deliver engaging, hands-on Food Tech lessons across KS3–4 * Support students in preparing for GCSE exams, practical assessments, and coursework * Ensure food hygiene and safety standards are upheld at all times * Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment focused on wellbeing and skills * Contribute to wider school events and life-skills projects Candidate Essentials * Degree in Food, Nutrition, Home Economics, or related subject * PGCE/QTS and classroom experience at secondary level * Excellent subject knowledge, especially around sustainability and health * Passion for inspiring young people and encouraging food confidence The School * Outstanding facilities including student kitchen gardens and nutrition suite * Active involvement in national initiatives for healthy schools and sustainable food * Warm, community-oriented ethos with small class sizes and personalised support Salary MPS/UPS equivalent + full benefits + strong CPD support + optional on-site accommodation
