Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant


My client, an innovative, environmentally-conscious Multidisciplinary Consultancy is currently searching for a Flood Risk and Drainage Engineer to join their specialist team of consultants and design engineers, based near the multi-cultural, easily-accessible town of Swindon.

Essential Criteria:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Geography, or other relevant field Demonstrable commercial experience of producing Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs), drainage strategy reports, and working with Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS)
  • Working knowledge of the relevant Section Agreements (namely S38, S102, S104), and their applications in the industry

Competent in the usage of MicroDrainage WinDES, AutoCAD, and other relevant software packages

Confident in the use of Microsoft Office packages (e.g. Word, Excel, etc.) Excellent literacy and numeracy skills

It would also benefit applicants for the role of Flood Risk and Drainage Engineer to have the following skills:

Possess a full UK driver's licence

  • Working knowledge of industry-standard planning and technical guidelines, including the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF), CIRIA SuDS Design Manual, Sewer Sector Guidance, and Building Regulations

In your varied new role of Flood Risk and Drainage Engineer, you will join a growing team of experts in the fields, with a view to developing your career alongside them. The role will involve several interesting responsibilities, including:

Formulating and submitting Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategy reports Producing planning applications for a range of minor projects and major developments Conducting appropriate research, utilising findings to author reports

Producing drawings and plans (using AutoCAD and lnfoDrainage software) to accompany the relevant reports

  • Visiting sites and attending team meetings
