Children's Home Manager


Overview

Our client provides 24/7, year-round residential care for children referred by Local Authorities due to trauma, abuse, neglect, or mental health and educational needs. Some children may present with complex or challenging behaviours. Our approach is therapeutic and child-centred, using methods like PACE to support recovery, stability, and growth.

The purpose of this role is for the Responsible Individual ensures the home delivers high-quality care that meets all regulatory standards, with strong leadership and a focus on safety, compliance, and child development. This role supports and oversees the Registered Manager and staff team

Key Responsibilities

Regulation & Compliance

  • Ensure full compliance with Ofsted, local authority standards, and relevant legislation.
  • Monitor and implement changes to regulations and ensure staff understanding.
  • Lead safeguarding across the home and ensure robust child protection procedures.
  • Guide, support, and supervise the Registered Manager and care team.
  • Lead recruitment, training, and professional development to maintain high standards of care.
  • Foster effective communication with external agencies, placing authorities, and internal teams.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent.
  • Willing to achieve Level 5 in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare.
  • Full UK driving licence required.

Qualifications & Professional Experience

  • Holds a relevant qualification or degree in social work, childcare, or a closely related discipline.

Experience

  • Substantial experience in residential childcare.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Knowledge of the Children s Homes Regulations, Quality Standards, and safeguarding law.

Qualifications & Professional Experience

  • Holds a relevant qualification or degree in social work, childcare, or a closely related discipline.
  • Brings substantial experience within a residential childcare setting, with a deep understanding of its operational challenges and responsibilities.
  • Strong working knowledge of key legislation and regulatory frameworks, particularly the Children s Homes Regulations and Quality Standard

Knowledge & Understanding

  • Comprehensive understanding of statutory guidance governing residential childcare, including:
    • Children s Homes (England) Regulations 2015
    • Quality Standards for Children s Homes
    • Children Act 1989
    • Working Together to Safeguard Children (2018)
    • Data Protection Act (2018)
    • Health and Safety at Work etc. Act (1974)
