Job Title: Assistant Headteacher: Quality of Education

Location: Longdon Park School, Derby D656GU

Salary: Up to GBP45,000 per annum dependent on experience (not pro rata)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week; Monday to Friday 8.00-17.00

Contract: Permanent, Term Time only

Start: September 2025

We are looking for a Assistant Headteacher to join our close-knit team at Longdon Park School, part of Options Autism.

About the role

The post holder will support the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher with the leadership and management of the school in order to promote effective education and care and contribute to the learning, personal development and well-being of all students.

Be an integral member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) discharging individual responsibilities to a high standard as well as supporting the work of the team at all times.

Work closely with the Headteacher, SLT and colleagues to ensure the school is compliant with statutory regulation.

Key Result Areas

  • Support the management of systems, routines and processes to work effectively in line with legal requirements.
  • Support the Deputy Headteacher in the management, organisation and administration of the school, with a particular focus on student progress and exams.
  • Support the Deputy Headteacher in the management, organisation and administration of teacher professional development, with a particular focus on early career teachers and instructors.
  • Work with the Headteacher and SLT to lead and manage strategic areas of school development.
  • Be proactive in establishing communications which foster good relations with all stakeholders, external agencies, individuals and organisations and which, through consultation, seek their positive support and active involvement in the school.
  • Provide information and advice to the Headteacher and Assistant Director in accordance with Governance arrangements and support proper accountability processes throughout the school.

Essential:

  • QTS
  • Leadership experience
  • Degree in an appropriate subject

Longdon Park School opened in June 2015. We are a co-educational day school catering for pupils aged 7 to 18 with complex educational needs, communication difficulties and challenging behaviour primarily with a diagnosis of ASD. We provide a therapeutic, supportive, and inclusive learning environment where our young people learn to accept responsibility for their actions, make positive decisions and display pro-social behaviour. We are committed to raising achievement and enabling pupils to recognise their potential and supporting them through a personalised, engaging curriculum. Our priority is to develop the foundation knowledge and skills required to make a manageable and smooth transition to the next life stage.

Longdon Park School is not readily accessible by public transport.
