Welder (TIG) – Birkenhead Join a leading engineering company based in Birkenhead, delivering high-integrity ductwork and fabrication solutions for significant nuclear infrastructure projects. This position offers the chance to work in a state-of-the-art facility, performing precision TIG welding on stainless steel components, with opportunities for long-term development and stability. Who this job would suit This role is ideal for experienced TIG welders who enjoy working with fine stainless steel fabrications and are confident in high-specification environments. It would particularly suit individuals seeking a permanent PAYE position, who value consistency, skill development, and contributing to critical UK infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities * Carry out TIG welding on 1mm–3mm stainless steel ductwork with a high degree of precision. * Perform stainless steel butt and fillet welds to coded standards, including pipe-to-plate configurations. * Follow safe systems of work and contribute to a safety-first site culture. * Operate within defined manufacturing tolerances and inspection/test protocols. * Support fabrication of bespoke ductwork components as per project specifications. Weld tests Suitable applicants will be asked to attend a weld test at the fabrication facility in Birkenhead and complete the following: 1. Stainless butt (PA Position) - Essential 2. 2 x stainless fillet weld with various thicknesses 3. Pipe to plate fillet weld in horizontal position 4. Stainless butt weld (6G Position) - (Preferred but not essential) Salary NAECI Grade 5 (Advanced Craft) – £22.44 + £0.34 proficiency bonus per hour.
