Job description

  • HGV Class 1 Driver - Tramping
  • Peterborough
  • Temp to Perm
  • 19.00 to 20.00 per hour including holiday pay
  • 26 per night out payment
  • Flexible Rotas
  • AM and PM shifts
  • Training - fully paid
  • Modern efficient fleet - less than 3 years old including luxury cabin - heated seats, bed, microwave etc.
  • No loding or unloading
  • PAYE applicants only

A specialist agri-products haulier is seeking HGV Class 1 drivers preferably with TRAMPING experience to operate out of its Peterborough office on a number of long haul routes

The Role

The ideal candidates will be responsible for transporting bulk agricultural products safely and efficiently on tramping assignments, ensuring timely deliveries while adhering to all traffic regulations and company policies. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, and excellent driving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Operate lorries in a safe and efficient manner, following all road safety regulations.
  • Collecting bulk products from agri producers and delivering to large scale food manufacturers.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition.
  • No loading or unloading as you will be collecting fully loaded vehicle and then tipping at food manufacturing plant
  • Maintain accurate delivery logs and documentation as per company policy.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery status and any issues that may arise.
  • Follow all company policies regarding safety, compliance, and customer service.

Requirements

  • Valid commercial driving licence with appropriate endorsements for lorry operation.
  • Proven HGV Class 1 experience as a delivery driver or in a similar role involving commercial driving.
  • Tipper operation experience will be advantageous
  • Tramping & International route driving experience an advantage
  • Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and traffic laws.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively.
  • Good level of fitness although loading and unloading of cargo is automated
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-focused attitude.
  • Must feel at home in the agricultural sector
