As we expand, we are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to support our finance team and contribute to the smooth operation of our financial processes.
The Finance Assistant will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business. This role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the successful candidate will assist with financial record-keeping, invoicing, reconciliations, and administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with the preparation and processing of invoices, purchase orders, and payments
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
Perform bank and account reconciliations
Support month-end and year-end financial close processes
Assist with VAT returns and other statutory reporting requirements
Manage petty cash and staff expense claims
Liaise with suppliers and internal departments to resolve invoice queries
Assist with payroll preparation and data entry
Support the Finance Manager with ad hoc financial tasks and reporting
Ensure compliance with company financial policies and procedures
Requirements:
Proven experience in a finance or accounts assistant role
Good understanding of basic accounting principles
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial software (e.g. Sage, Xero, QuickBooks)
Strong numerical and analytical skills
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Excellent organisational and time-management skills
Ability to handle confidential information with integrity
AAT qualification (or working towards) is desirable
