Quantity Surveyor Location: Chelmsford, Essex Salary: £40,000 - £65,000 per year (negotiable, depending on relevant experience) Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday) Work Location: In person Full time / Permanent Remarkable Jobs are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and dynamic construction company based in Chelmsford, Essex. We are seeking a Quantity Surveyor with proven Civils experience to join their growing team. This is a hands-on role that combines financial oversight with active project involvement. You'll play a key part in managing costs across a range of construction projects with a strong focus on Civils and infrastructure-based developments. Quantity Surveyor Role: As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the financial and contractual control of projects from pre-construction to completion. You'll work closely with stakeholders to ensure value for money, budget control, and cost efficiency-particularly on Civils projects, where your expertise will be essential. Quantity Surveyor Key Responsibilities: * Prepare accurate cost estimates based on drawings, specs, and project requirements Carry out cost analysis and flag financial risks, especially within Civils environments Develop, manage, and report on budgets in collaboration with project managers Lead procurement, tendering, and contract negotiation processes Maintain detailed records of all financial transactions and project spend Provide expert advice on contractual matters, variations, and claims Liaise with clients, engineers, and consultants regarding Civils cost implications Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and budget compliance What They Are Looking For: Essential: Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field Proven experience in Civils and infrastructure construction projects Strong cost control and financial management skills Excellent written and verbal communication for stakeholder engagement Proficiency in quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office Desirable: Familiarity with contract law and dispute resolution Experience across both public and private sector Civils projects Quantity Surveyor Key Attributes: Detail-focused with a structured, methodical approach Commercially aware and proactive in resolving project issues Able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment Benefits: Casual dress Company events Free or subsidised travel On-site parking If you're an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in Civils, looking to take the next step in your career with a forward-thinking and supportive business, we'd love to hear from you
