Warehouse Operative

Looking to hire warehouse operatives for our site in Spencers Wood RG7 1PJ to start asap. Job Purpose: To support the day-to-day operations of the warehouse, ensuring safe, efficient handling, storage, and dispatch of non-ferrous metal products. The role involves operating machinery, preparing customer orders, and maintaining accurate inventory records while adhering to strict health and safety standards. Key Responsibilities: * Load and unload metal products, ingots, and alloy stock using forklifts and pallet trucks. * Pick, pack, and prepare customer orders for dispatch. * Operate warehouse machinery (e.g., forklift, cranes, wrapping machines) safely and efficiently. * Maintain accurate stock control and participate in regular stock checks. * Ensure correct labelling and documentation of materials. * Monitor product quality and report any defects or inconsistencies. * Follow company procedures for the storage and segregation of different metals. * Keep warehouse areas clean, safe, and organised in line with health & safety requirements. * Assist with goods-in inspections and quality control. * Report any safety hazards or operational issues to the Warehouse Supervisor. * Work collaboratively with other departments including logistics and production. Skills & Experience Required: * Previous warehouse or industrial experience preferred (metals or manufacturing sector a bonus). * Valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence (desirable). * Good level of physical fitness – role involves manual handling and working in warm or heavy-duty environments. * Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious. * Ability to follow instructions and work independently. * Good communication and teamwork skills. Desirable: * Experience handling non-ferrous metals or working in foundry/logistics environments. * Awareness of COSHH regulations and metal handling protocols. * Basic computer literacy for stock and order systems.
