Playworker After School Club


Playworker – After school Cub & Holiday Club Location: Camden Salary: £11 – £12.50 per hour Hours: 2.45pm – 6.15pm, Monday to Friday Contract: Temp, Term-time only We are looking for an After School Club Playworker. The hours are from 2.45pm to 6.15pm Monday to Friday School Term Time only. Main Purpose: To assist organise, develop and supervise the activities of pupils attending the After School Club. Main Duties & Responsibilities * Appropriate care, control and supervision of pupils in After School Care. * To assist plan, organise and deliver a weekly schedule of valuable, interesting and appropriate activities to promote learning through play. * Maintain positive interactions with pupils, acting as role model and being aware of and responding appropriately to individual needs. * Liaise with teaching and administrative staff in connection with After School Care. * Comply with all Health & Safety regulations pertaining to After School Care. * Administer basic First Aid in accordance with agreed Youngsters Procedures. * Liaise with parents of pupils in After School Care in the event of illness, injury, behaviour etc., in accordance with agreed Youngstars procedures. To communicate with parents about the club and its activities. * To keep Youngsters head office informed of all incidents and/or report any concerns as necessary in After School Care. * To provide full care for the children including maintaining a register of children attending the Club, following up any unexpected absences and the safe delivery to parents and/or named carers. * There may be times when you are required to stay with a child if a parent is late arriving to collect their child, make contact with the parent as necessary and notify head office by telephone if the parent is more than 20 minutes late. * Present high standards of appearance at all times and display a professional example relating to punctuality, general behaviour, attention to detail, adaptability and flexibility. The following are the desirable criteria to undertake the job competently: * Experience of working with or caring for children. * Childcare qualification preferred but not essential. Person Specification: * Able to relate well to children and adults. * Good literacy/numeracy skills. * Confident communication and interpersonal skills. * Able to use own initiative. * Flexible and able to adapt to changing demands. * Able to work constructively as part of a small team. * Patience, tact and diplomacy. * Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle such information sensitively. * Qualified in paediatric first aid (or willingness to become qualified) * An understanding of child protection.
