Youth Worker


Student Services at Kingston College supports students at each stage of their journey from pre-entry to post exit. The department has a student orientated culture and puts students’ needs at the heart of everything it does.

We’re now looking for a Youth Worker – someone to contribute to a wide and varied programme, which will include co-leading and delivering a range of activities to students. You will contribute to the service where required, which may include working with students that may be identified through safeguarding processes, supporting social spaces, including our Enrichment Hub, in delivering personal development activities which support developing positive behaviour and attitudes amongst students.

We’d like our Youth Worker to be qualified to Level 3 or above in an appropriate subject (Youth & Community, Education, Psychology, Sociology, Health & Social Care or IAG) and have experience of working with and delivering activities to young people predominantly 16-18, from a variety of backgrounds, understanding the needs and issues surrounding them and the difficulties the students face.

You’ll have experience of youth and community work/enrichment and/or targeted assessment, intervention and support, and have experience of positively engaging young people and working with them to improve behaviour, skills and confidence in challenging situations. You’ll be able to lead on the planning and delivery of enrichment activities and events to support and enhance the student experience and demonstrate the ability to deliver student workshops/presentations or tutorials.

Although this role is primarily based at Kingston College, you may be required to travel to or work from any of the South Thames Colleges Group sites.

Please note that this post is funded for the 2024/25 academic year so the successful candidate would not be expected to commence in post prior to August 2024.

Subject to a cost of living review from 1 August, the successful candidate will be eligible for any subsequent increase in salary.
