Ford & Stanley The Rail Recruitment Experts have partnered with Unipart Rail, which is part of the Unipart Group based in Doncaster. The business delivers a wide range of products and services to the UK Rail industry via an extensive supply chain.

Due to the nature of the Unipart Rail, the procurement team plays a critical role as Unipart s supply chain is fundamental to the success of the business. In many cases, suppliers could be considered business partners and work with Unipart to deliver to the end customer.

The Opportunity

The Bid Sourcing & Contracts Specialist is a new position designed to integrate within the Unipart Rail procurement team with duties that can be split into 3 key areas: bid sourcing, new product support and supporting indirect suppliers.

  1. Bid Sourcing Much of the job focusses upon supporting bids (requirements from prospective customers), liaising with new and existing suppliers to put together the best possible proposal.
  2. New Product Support Unipart has a range of business streams led by product managers who are keen to introduce new products and services to the Unipart portfolio. The Bid Sourcing & Contracts specialist will support by ensuring that suppliers are onboarded correctly, due diligence and legal terms completed.
  3. Supporting Indirect Suppliers this is a recent development for the team and again is focused upon ensuring suppliers are onboarded correctly, due diligence and legal terms completed.

Location (s):

Doncaster Hybrid 3 days in the office, 2 work from home.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and facilitate bid cost requirements against products within Traction & Rolling stock, Infrastructure, Consumables & Fasteners and New Business Products / Services.
  • The role will be responsible for vendor selection, vendor management and pricing of bids, including liaising with other key stakeholders such as the Bid Management Team, New Products Team, Forecasting, MRP Controllers, Engineering, Finance and Legal etc.
  • Co-ordinating Unipart s interface with suppliers to ensure products and services purchased, lead to improving value and service to the Unipart Rail business and its customers.
  • Our aim is to maximize business opportunities and grow turnover by satisfying and exceeding our customers expectations. Timely bid responses and accurate data are essential to achieving this.
  • To support the New Business and existing Indirects process in drafting and negotiating key principles and distribution agreements, through to contract award.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will be excellent at bid sourcing and thrives in multi-tasking and processes.

Essentials

  • CIPS qualified (Level 3) or degree equivalent
  • Strong MS Excel (VLOOKUPS and pivot tables)
  • Confident with supplier terms and legal requirements / distribution agreements etc

Desirable

  • Engineering / heavy manufacturing related experience (not Food, construction etc)
