Shift Manager (Nights) - Manufacturing & Engineering - Thornton-Cleveleys - Up to GBP50,000

About the company

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated Shift Manager (Nights) to oversee high high-performing factory in the Thornton-Cleveleys area.

As Shift Manager you will be responsible for all operations management throughout the shift, coordinating HR issues, plant break-down work as well as supporting and coaching team members to achieve operational excellence.

Shift Manager (Nights) - The Rewards
  • Salary up to GBP50,000
  • Sunday to Thursday 10pm - 6am

Shift Manager (Nights) - Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years experience of managing people ideally in the food / FMCG industry
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills with sound planning and organisational abilities
  • Ability to demonstrate the personal qualities of accountability in fulfilling the job role, demonstrate a drive and passion for continuous improvement and adaptability to changing business circumstances
  • Have an Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate and IOSH Working Safely or equivalent certificates
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills and computer literacy
  • Experience in batch and continuous processes, with knowledge of control of ingredients/packaging and waste management
Shift Manager (Nights) - Responsibilities
  • To be responsible for all operations management throughout the shift, coordinating HR issues, plant break-down work, organising additional support and changes to the manufacturing plan if required
  • Ensure all production equipment including pallets, utensils, trays and the washroom are present and hygienically clean and ready for each shift
  • Review and verify as accurate, all site documentation including HACCP, Food safety, performance, process error and finance incident reports at the end of each shift
  • Ensure the production plan is completed as per the weekly manufacturing plan
  • All reactive and planned maintenance is to be completed to the standards required and signed back to production where required
  • All site audits are to be completed with deviations to standard reported; to include quality, hygiene, process control and H & S
  • Documented process deviations and errors are to be accurately investigated leading to proposals for corrective actions to eliminate re-occurrence
  • Engineering breakdowns must be supervised to ensure the plant is available for the next shift
  • Provide first point of contact for technical, engineering, production and supply chain teams throughout the shift
  • All manufacturing procedures and systems for stock locating and movement must be followed accurately
  • Carry out training and briefing for all new / existing staff to include Operating Procedures, Works Instructions and ensuring Company information is controlled
  • Support Company systems including; BRC, HACCP and CCP adherence throughout the site
  • To immediately report any incidences of poor manufacturing practice, H&S, quality incidents or food safety concerns to any member of the Senior Management team.
  • Work closely with and communicate effectively with the other key members of the senior management team to maintain and improve Company performance
  • To ensure arrangements are in place to uphold responsibilities for Food Safety, Quality and Legality. This responsibility must be an integral and consistent feature, properly managed and controlled; ensuring adequate communication at all times and that any issues are correctly identified, assessed and appropriately managed.
