Primary Substation Design Engineers

Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for Primary Substation Design Engineers for multiple clients on ongoing contracts based in Midlands (Hybrid/Remote Options) OUTSIDE IR35 Job Description The Primary Substation Design Engineers will support the HV Substation Primary Design Team covering all plant design and layout requirements for HV Transmission with a focus on HV Substations and associated projects from 132kv to 400kv. Essential Responsibilities: * In depth knowledge of creating and preparing HV Plant Layout drawings: general arrangements, schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, related drawings documentation and other outputs. * Knowledgeable in electrical protection systems, system components, engineering requirements and standards. * Design Responsibilities cover: * Single line diagram * Primary Layout and Elevations * Mechanical and electrical interlock diag. * Earthing Calculations * Earthing Grid (MES) Layout * Earthing details for HV Equipment * Conductor and Connector Layout and Elevations * Label Nomenclature Schedule * HV Cable Scheme Route / HV Cable Installation Details * HV Cable calculation / HV Cable connection diagrams * Relay room layout drawings, * Electrical interlock drawings * I/O Schedules * Control system interfaces * Support the creation of site packages and final record packages. * Help identify all relevant standards and Customer requirements, ensuring compliance with relevant National / International Standards and legislation, and contract specification. * Attend and contribute to Design Review / Contract Close-out Meetings, ensuring that appropriate items are actioned in a timely manner. Liaise with Engineer on drawings requirements. Initiate the preparation of all required drawings. * Assist with preparation of Installation and Commissioning packages, in a timely manner as dictated by Project Programmes. * Highlight any design issues to the Engineer/Manager proposing any possible solution for review. Carry out draughting checks as deemed necessary and in line with the requirements. ​ Qualifications and Skills: * Strong knowledge on High Voltage substation international standards & guidelines (IEC, CIGRE…) and related equipment * Knowledge of National Grid TP standards * Proficient with Autodesk CAD tools, Revit * Good understanding of onshore civil engineering and offshore platform design and requirements * Analytical mind, rigorous and commitment * Professional English spoken and written
