Are you a Plant Fitter seeking your next position?

I am working with one of my clients who is seeking a Plant Fitter to join their team in the civil engineering industry. They are a civil engineering contractor who are working on live project nationwide; however, they need to add a Plant Fitter to their team in Sussex to assist with the repairs and maintenance of equipment and machinery. This role is crucial in ensuring the safe, cost-effective repair and maintenance of plant and equipment across various projects.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out repairs, servicing, and maintenance on plant machinery including excavators, dozers, graders, cranes, and other related equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults, adhering to manufacturer guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, policies, method statements, risk assessments, and health & safety regulations.
  • Inspect, test, and tag plant equipment before delivery to site, ensuring timely completion and adherence to quality standards.
  • Attend site/workshop inductions, toolbox talks, and department meetings, following all highlighted rules and guidelines.
  • Carry out fabrication, welding, and gas-cutting tasks as required.
  • Perform diagnostics on vehicles and equipment both in the workshop and on site.
  • Provide on-site breakdown assistance as required.

Requirements:

  • Ability to show previous experience as a Plant Fitter, ideally within the civil engineering or construction industry.
  • Strong mechanical ability and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic and electrical systems.
  • The correct certifications or qualifications in relevant areas (e.g., CPCS, IPAF).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and drawings.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety standards.
  • Full UK driving license (preferably with HIAB/plant operator certification).
