Construction Manager


About the role Balfour Beatty have a fantastic opportunity for a skilled Construction Manager to work with our amazing Power T&D team. You will need to be able to Plan, manage and deliver site activities and to support Project team to deliver the construction works. Safely and sustainably deliver the construction works to programme, cost and quality Ensure the sufficiency of people & systems to deliver the construction activity Support and develop an environment where the construction team can thrive and succeed Ensure effective management of client and stakeholders Review, monitor and improve construction performance Provides management, leadership and inspires a multi-disciplinary team to achieve a common goal To determine the most appropriate means of satisfying customer/project requirements, objectives and constraints; time, cost, quality, scope, risk and benefit What you'll be doing Manage Site Managers / Project Engineers to ensure that all work undertaken satisfies all required safety and technical policies and procedures Plan the work and oversee the requirements for necessary materials, plant and equipment Oversee the requirements for resource and then manage staff for the project Manage the construction site(s) on a day-to-day basis, including supervising the labour force, monitoring subcontractors, checking materials, inspecting work and overseeing quality control Ensure that all work is carried out according to NRSWA and be responsible for effective liaison and collaboration with Highways Authorities, Local Authorities and other Utilities providers etc. Ensure the project is delivered on time and on budget by setting benchmarks, agreeing budgets and monitoring progress Check design documents Responsible for a working environment which ensures the achievement of all safety and environment legislation, engineering and customer standards. Who we're looking for The following qualities/experience are essential: Able to demonstrate a track record of project delivery Good understanding of the standard forms of contracts Proficient in commercial/project management communications Experience in implementing safe systems of work Able to communicate effectively both verbal and written with all levels of the organisation Effective team management skills which empower, influence & inspire others to build effective teams. Providing mentoring and support to members of the team where required Commercially astute Able to undertake work in high pressure situations Good knowledge of performance evaluation techniques and key metrics Record of a solution-based approach to problem solving Ability to see the business vision and inspire this shared vision amongst the team Communications – Verbally, Written, Presenting Communicate and check understanding of daily briefings Two way communication eg brief out weekly safety pack Discuss ideas and plans competently and with confidence Communicate new concepts and ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholders Effective personal and social skills Awareness and promotion the benefits of diversity and inclusion Identify and drive personal development The following qualities/experience are desirable: Experience of working on a variety of project types Proficient on O365 Holds a current driving licence The role holder is likely to have one or more of the following: CSCS and SMSTS or Equivalent Why work for us About us
