Manufacturing Engineer


Manufacturing Engineer Desford (LE9) - 4 days on site / 1 day WFH 12 month contract 37.5 hours a week with an early finish on a Friday! (08.00 - 16.30 Mon - Thurs, 08.00 - 12.30 Fri) Up to £23.35 per hour PAYE (depending on experience) / Umbrella rates also available We’re looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join a Global Fortune 100 Off Highway Machinery Manufacturer’s facility in Desford, working in a team focussed on current product. The successful candidate will primarily be focussed on engineering change, steering new designs for the perfect process outcome! You’ll need strong 3D visualisation software skills and ‘Design for assembly’ experience, as well as being a great communicator; as you’ll collaborate with other business areas. What will the Manufacturing Engineer do? Provide specialist technical expertise within the Manufacturing Engineering function Identify + implement enhancements and modifications to complex manufacturing operations equipment and processes Conduct concurrent product and process design in line with current product improvement programmes, review design for manufacturability, assess and mitigate process risks Creative problem solving to address ergonomic/safety/quality/efficiency operational issues Work with internal/external suppliers to develop & manage projects to make quality product Design, develop, and implement manufacturing systems including factory control software, scheduling techniques, simulation, and systems application Coordinate the purchase/application of tools, controls, and related equipment and ensuring the latest technology is being used to increase efficiency and economy of operations Assist in development of cap/ex budgets & maintain the department’s capital forecast Coach & Mentor early learners in the department (apprentices, graduates, technicians) What we’re looking for from you as Manufacturing Engineer; 5+ years’ experience within manufacturing engineering, some of this to be focussed on engineering change (12 months minimum.) Technical or university degree in an appropriate manufacturing or engineering related field, or equivalent experience in manufacturing engineering or design engineering Thorough knowledge of manufacturing operations, manufacturing change management, technology development and facility planning An excellent communicator and collaborator is essential Design for Assembly experience and experience from a further advanced industry i.e. automation Problem solving, decision making, and critical thinking skills, with demonstrated ability to bring problems to a successful resolution. Software you’ll use: Teamcenter, Creo, AutoCAD for plant layouts. Use of FMEA’s. Desirable experience: Knowledge of Industry 4.0, IoT and implementing Assembly Automation, 3D modelling knowledge using Creo or similar, 6 Sigma Green belt certification, previous experience in development of PFMEAs and control plans To apply, please submit a copy of your up to date CV clearly indicating your relevant experience.
