Permanent Full Time Team Leader (Clinical Nurse Manager 1 Grade), Suir Respite Services
1. This is a permanent full time post working 75 hours per fortnight. Compulsory Retirement age is 70.
2. Qualifications:
The successful candidate must:
a) be registered in the Register of Nurses (RNID) by An Board Altranais or entitled to be so registered;
b) have at least 3 years post qualification/registration experience gained with an up-to-date knowledge of current thinking and practice in services for people with intellectual disability.
c) have an appropriate management qualification is desirable
d) relevant management experience is desirable.
e) Possess a full clean manual "category B" Irish Driving Licence.
Experience of working as a member of a team is essential.
3. Remuneration
Salary Scale: (pro rata)
€52,712, €53,668, €55,017, €56,388, €57,752, €59,124, €60,653, €62,077
All new entrants to the Public Service will start at the first point of this scale
4. The normal working fortnight will be 75 hours per fortnight however, flexible hours, including weekend, evenings, nights, sleepovers and waking cover may be required. Starting and finishing times will be notified to, and agreed with, the appointee from time to time by the Team Leader/Services Manager. The Brothers of Charity Services model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees' to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual.
5. Health
The successful candidate must be free from any condition, which would render him/her unsuitable to hold the appointment, and must be in a state of health as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service. To satisfy this qualification, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a medical examination by the Occupational Health Nurse/Physician.
6. Duties
The general duties of the appointment are as described in the attached Job Description.
7. A short list of candidates to attend before the Selection Board will be prepared by the selection Board from an examination of statements of qualifications furnished by the candidates.
8. The Team Leader/Services Manager will notify the successful candidate of the mandatory/compulsory courses/training which employees are obliged to attend. Mandatory training, for example, manual handling, health and safety courses etc., form part of the conditions of employment along with the Organisation's statutory obligation.

Title: Permanent Full Time Team Leader (CNM1 Grade), Suir Respite Services
Reports to: CNM2/Person in Charge, Suir Services or such other authorised person as the Employing authority may designate.
Accountable to: Suir Services Manager Tipperary Services
The Congregation of the Brothers of Charity is a religious voluntary organisation, founded in 1807 by Canon Peter Trieste, to provide a Christian response to a variety of needs in society.

Duties:
The person appointed will collaborate with the Team Leader in leading Suir Respite Services Team. The person appointed should have the ability to provide leadership and inspire and motivate the ongoing development of effective teamwork. The team will facilitate the choices of and deliver supports to individuals (Children & Adults) who are supported by the Services.
The post holder will be required to take an active part in ensuring that the day-to-day operations of the Service reflect the ethos and vision of the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland - South East Region and that all co-workers are meeting the needs of the people who use services therein.
Subject to the agreed policies and procedures of the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland - South East, the person appointed shall:
Advocacy and Rights
1 uphold and respect the human, legal and constitutional rights of individuals supported by the service and their family, recognising their individuality and equality, and empowering them to grow, thereby achieving the highest possible level of personal autonomy;
2 facilitate, encourage and develop individuals supported by the service and decision making skills;
3 enable individuals supported by the service to pursue and maintain their individual hobbies and interests;
4 foster, encourage and develop the self-help and social skills of individuals supported by the services so as to achieve the greatest degree of autonomy possible;
5 facilitate individuals supported by the services to actively participate and integrate into the community, through the use of generic community facilities;
6 facilitate, encourage and develop individuals supported by the service and family's self-advocacy skills and opportunities for involvement in advocacy;
Person Centred Support for Learning:
7 In consultation with the individual be responsible for the development and implementation of person centred plans and ensure that the needs identified are properly addressed;
8 Work with individuals to identify, develop, implement and evaluate suitable and up-to-date (appropriate training, leisure, social & personal) options that meet their needs and goals.
9 Model the keyworker system through personal commitment and practice, ensuring that individuals receive a high quality, personalised support according to their needs and wishes;
10 Support, facilitate and encourage individuals to be involved in decisions and choices pertaining to their lives and home.
11 Support and encourage the development of self-care skills for individuals, particularly in relation to personal hygiene, health matters and personal appearance.
12 Administer medication as prescribed
13 Support individuals in achieving the greatest degree of autonomy and participation possible in the management of their own health.
14 Liaise with day services teams/key workers where appropriate
15 Ensure that all behaviour programmes that are put in place by the Multidisciplinary Team are implemented and reviewed.
16 Contribute to and participate in social and recreational activities of people who use services.
17 Positively support the pastoral care/spiritual care of individuals supported
Management & Leadership:
18 Collaborate with the CNM2 in supporting the management of change in all aspects of services provided within the service area.
19 Assist the CNM2 in developing and leading the implementation of a Team Based Performance Management approach to achieving the goals of the Services' strategic plan.
20 Ensure that staff in the day service are familiar with and adhere to the policies, procedures and codes of practice that relate to staff and people who use services;
21 Assist in the management of attendance and performance of staff assigned to the house and report as required.
22 Be responsible for the orientation and induction of staff and people who use services to the day service.
23 Facilitate staff attendance at case reviews, P.C.P.s and appropriate training courses;
24 Assist in leading the team in ensuring that individuals are facilitated in achieving their personal outcome measures.
25 Welcome and foster a team approach including the delegation of responsibility, utilizing the diverse skills and experience of all team members;
26 Report to the CNM2 and Service Manager regularly on all aspects of the service and otherwise as requested.
27 Maintain excellent standards in record keeping and report writing.
28 Contribute to the development of and supervise the implementation of Service monitoring systems, including HIQA Standards.
29 Co-ordinate the roles of the various disciplines within the day service, to produce effective team work and ensuring maximum benefit of support to people who use services and the maximum performance of the staff team.
30 Role model the maintenance of high standards of care and practice in student placements and undertake a preceptorship role by facilitating and evaluating student learning, including taking responsibility for transmitting knowledge, skills and attitudes.
