Graduate Quantity Surveyor

My client are a growing timber-frame construction business based in Coventry. We design and build modular, eco- friendly buildings, for both the public and private sector, while also providing a fully inclusive installation service. My client are offering an excellent opportunity for a recently graduated QS, at the start of their career to join a progressive and well-established business, with opportunities to springboard your career. Whilst reporting to our Commercial Manager you will also support our operations, precontract and project delivery teams, ensuring effective cost management, procurement and compliance with contractual requirements for each project. Key Responsibilities * Ensure robust, accurate and timely cost and value reporting * Taking off quantities from drawings and producing measurement submissions * Assist with the preparation of contract documents together with administering the conditions of the contract * Provide sound QS advice in respect of cost planning, procurement, contracts and cost control. * Assist in estimating and tendering of projects * Maintain a professional working relationship with our operations teams, together with providing our clients with excellent levels of communication and assurance * Presenting and agreeing variations, valuations with the client * Accurate monthly forecasting * Ability to challenge resources and costs * Ensure commercial and contractual procedures are followed under the main contract and company standards * Maintain commercial deadlines * Ensure good client and project team relationships Skills and Experience * Surveying: 1 years’ relevant experience preferred * QS degree (or construction related degree, HNC / HND) * Good communication skills, both written and verbal * Collaborative outlook to Construction * Sound commercial awareness * Excellent IT systems knowledge (inc Office) * Ability to demonstrate a good knowledge of commercial reporting * Excellent time management skills with ability to work to tight deadlines * Experience with NEC / JCT forms of Contract * Clean driving license
