Industrial Manager for Sub-assemblies

This is an exceptional opportunity for a capable and adaptable manufacturing/quality professional to join our Supply Chain in Development team. As the Industrial Manager for Sub-assemblies, you will play a key role in ensuring flawless manufacturing processes and the successful delivery of high-quality sub-assemblies for our missile systems.

Job Title : Industrial Manager for Sub-assemblies

Salary : Circa GBP60,000 depending on experience

Location : Bolton/Stevenage/Bristol (We may be able to offer a relocation package for this role)

Dynamic (hybrid) working : 1-2 days per week on-site due to workload classification

Security Clearance : British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:

This is an exciting opportunity for a capable, adaptable, manufacturing / quality professional, to join the Supply Chain in Development team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading an Industrial Validation team interfacing with a diverse range of Procurement and Supply Chain professionals and external supply partners.

This role offers the opportunity to bring your professionalism, attention to detail and skillset to ensure that there is robust quality and capability in the external supply chain.

The primary objective of the Industrial Validation Manager role is to lead the team and be responsible for the monitoring and validation of a sustainable supply chain across all Development programmes, ensuring suppliers develop robust manufacturing systems capable of delivery on time and on quality during series production. This encompasses:

  • Managing Industrial Validation activities such as; Process FMEAs, Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) assessments, Production Readiness Reviews
  • Identifying potential industrial risks and put in place associated improvement and mitigation plans. Manage risks to closure. Escalate critical risks using company Risk tool.
  • Collaborative working across functions to monitor, evaluate and report on the development and validation of Supplier manufacturing systems; tracking progress against Supplier industrial plans, maintaining Industrial Dashboards.
  • Root Cause Analysis (8D's A3's, Fishbone)
  • Ensuring the development and implementation of Supplier Manufacturing Inspection and Test architectures and processes in line agreed Supplier manufacturing plans.
  • Facilitating operational involvement of suppliers during development to promote co-specification methodologies across projects.
  • Strong relationship management and autonomous working

What we're looking for from you:

  • An organised and diligent Quality and Engineering biased manager, with strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and techniques
  • An expert in Supplier Quality Assurance and Validation practices in a development to production Procurement environment.
  • Engineering or Business qualification preferably to Degree level.
  • Excellent influencing and problem solving skills
