Veterinary Surgeon

Veterinary Surgeon £55-£70k per annum. Charity role, based in South West Wales. Are dogs your passion? Remember the day you passed your exams? The excitement of being a vet, starting out, and wanting to make a difference. I guess the reason you are reading this ad is you don't get excited going to work every morning. Stuck in a rut, feeling frustrated and looking for a change, this is not what you signed up for. Do you want your life back, how about no weekends, no OOHs, or overtime? Is climbing mountains your thing? What about riding horses and walking your dogs on one of the many beaches, paddle boarding on the rivers or sea, or visiting AONB like the Gower Peninsula? What if we knew of a charity that rescues and rehomes over 3000 dogs a year? A charity dedicated to the welfare of dogs. No targets to worry about, or production line consults and where profits aren’t the main driver, but a place where like-minded individuals are involved in work that matters. Luckily, we do and this one is hiring. This charity is based in the picturesque region of South West Wales. They take in and rehome primarily ex-breeding dogs who are no longer required; those on "death row" in the pounds and those whose owners are no longer able to keep them. They also have dogs in foster homes throughout the UK. With the help of their staff, fosterers, and volunteers they provide a special and loving environment to help all dogs adapt and find permanent, loving new homes. Bring your dog to work as well if you wish. As a result, this is not just a job it's a community where they’ll work together – as a team – to make the place the best place it can be. They are looking for a full-time, competent sole charge vet to join the team. Experience for this role is required. The rescue is also keen to help young vets further their skills, so you will need to be willing to mentor at times. You will be involved with spaying, and neutering plus surgical procedures such as hernias, entropians, mammary, lumps, nasal wedges, etc. No need to worry about unsupportive or demanding clients as you are just helping and caring for the animals. It’s Monday to Friday, 8 hours a day, with no OOH’s and weekends. No silly rotas here, they want you rested, refreshed, and at the best of your abilities when it is time. What's in it for you? £55k-£70k per annum. A CPD allowance of £2k per annum, all fees paid for, 4 weeks holiday a year plus some temporary onsite accommodation if required. So, what’s next? Choosing a new practice is a big decision. You want somewhere to make a difference, work with like-minded people, help animals, and a place you can call home. Send your CV, don’t worry if it’s not up to date. We can’t get the whole story in a job ad so ask any questions. I’ll answer honestly, no hard sell. Be a happier more fulfilled vet and leave at the end of the day knowing you have made a difference
