Commercial Manager (Projects)


We are recruiting for Commercial Managers to join an established and respected Building Services Company to provide project support and commercial management within their dedicated Projects division. The role will be the driver for developing project value optimisation, tracking project performance across all contract service streams within a framework agreements. There are two openings available, one with extensive CAPEX experience and one with Sustainability as the main focus.   The roles are permanent in nature with basics ranging from 70-80k depending on bias and experience. The role has hybrid working (circa 3 days office/2 days WFH). Largely based from the Stevenage estate (with occasional travel). 25 days holiday plus stat, company pension, private healthcare, company sick-pay and other benefits. Mon-Fri 40 hours per week days.   Commercial Manager Description: Work closely with the Project Management and Co-ordination Team and compile budget and cash flow reports to the finance team Develop and implement consistent commercial management, advising the client on commercial and cost matters, providing the administration of contracts and agreements Proactively seeking to manage risk to as low as reasonably practical whilst adhering to client governance and compliance Managing budget and cost change throughout the life cycle of a project Implement, direct, monitor the commercial framework consistently across the projects, including customer and supply chain contracts, risk and legal requirements Involvement with all Project activity including leading on bespoke contract and all activities pertaining to this such as cost monitoring, early warning notices, etc. Using contract management software to manage risk Provide visibility on contract financial performance including the preparation of monthly accounts including application for payment, pay-less notice, payment certification, cashflow forecasts and query management. Complete Tender Reconciliations for the Project Team Draft and review contractual documents Liaise with key stakeholders to resolve contractual issues. Work closely with Finance Managers to ensure financial health and governance Support with business audits Help develop and maintain benchmarking data  Qualifications and Experience: Experience of cost and commercial management including cost change, cashflow reporting, risk and budget management Experience of preparing and negotiating complex legal and commercial aspects of sizeable contracts and opportunities A thorough understanding of the principles of risk management. Experience in a fast-paced work environment. Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines with an attention to detail. Ability to constructively challenge processes/behaviours and viewpoints. Experienced in working within a multi-disciplined environment. Good communication skills Experience in a similar role Knowledge/previously use of Power Project, Excel, Power BI, SAP and CEMAR desirable but not essential.
