Mechanical Design Engineer Salary - Circa £44,000 DOE Location - In office, Wantage We're supporting a global leader in packaging innovation, they have been operating for over four decades and are a powerhouse in designing, manufacturing, and distributing packaging solutions for both consumer & industrial sectors. Responsibilities, but are not limited to Design prototype and production tooling, development equipment and test rigs related to the development of products and manufacturing processes Plan, lead, and deliver design engineering tasks from project definition, through specification, concept and detail design, commissioning, and test Specify and procure commercial components, assemblies and machine solutions as required Produce technical project documentation including technical drawings and construction files, following required site standards, regulations, and European and international standards Coach and support other designers and users with use of design software and design best practices Identify improvement opportunities and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within design group Use project management tools and engineering knowledge to deliver key projects to customersExperiences required Degree level or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related field Must have similar professional industry experience within manufacturing or engineering environments Competent user of SolidWorks or similar: Solid Edge, Inventor or Fusion 360 Extensive experience in designing for manufacture, assembly & installation (DFM, DFA) Experience of applying GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), tolerance and tolerance stack-up Working knowledge of PDM systems, ideally SolidWorks PDM or Teamcenter, PTC Windchill, SAP, ENOVIA etc Able to use FEA or CAE analysis using Simulation or Ansys, Abaqus, MATLAB etc would be beneficial Must have full UK driving licenseBenefits Monday to Friday | 25 Day Annual Leave | Pension up to 9% | Life Assurance | BUPA Cash Plan | Employee Assistance Program | Group Income Protection | Onsite Gym + Classes | Onsite Canteen + Subsidised Food & Drink | Occupation Health | Onsite Treatments | Social & Wellbeing Committee | Social Clubs Key Skills - Engineer, Manufacture, Production, Workshop, CAD, 3D, SolidWorks, Solid Edge, Fusion 360, DFM, DFMA, Design for Manufacture, Production Drawing Packs, Packaging, Machinery, Components, Tooling, Development Engineer, Metalwork, CAE, FEA, Simulation, Ansys, Abaqus, MATLAB, PDM, Teamcenter, Windchill, SAP, ENOVIA
