Fleet Director/Director of Asset Services


With a pool of 1,500 assets, Svella Asset Services provides asset procurement, maintenance, control and rental services of core and specialist vehicles and equipment to its sister company, Svella Connect. Svella Asset Services is also charged with leading the vehicle and driver compliance agenda with external regulatory bodies. The provision of these services allows Svella Connect to focus on its core business flows and growth plans. Svella Connect is a telecommunications contractor working with Virgin Media to expand the national fibre network. With depots in Warrington, Leeds and Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire the business operates through these strategically placed offices covering the midlands and north of the country. We are looking to recruit a Fleet Director to lead all aspects of the business into and beyond the next stages of development. This role will have integral touch points with the leadership of the Svella Connect business. There will also be frequent interface with Svella PLC up to, and including, the statutory directors. The job holder will be an accomplished people leader and will also possess demonstrable strategic, operational, and financial attributes. Role Overview Leadership of all facets of the Fleet/Asset Services business: people; compliance; service; cost. Strategic positioning of the business to ensure responsive, flexible, and best-value services are provided to Svella Connect. Continual maintenance of the company’s Operator Compliance Risk Score (OCRS) in the “green” bandings. Delivery against all critical financial measures: Profit & Loss; Cash; Working Capital; Balance Sheet. Key Responsibilities: Leadership Line management of the three constituents of Asset Services: Compliance; Fleet Maintenance; Equipment Hire Assemble the best talent and build an exceptional leadership team Create a culture of teamwork, collaboration and commitment to the Svella Company values Provide inspirational leadership to the wider team Strategy and Performance Act as the senior interface between Asset Services and Svella PLC on all matters from tactical through to strategic Ownership of the 3-year strategic plan and road map Accountable for the performance against the annual and monthly budget targets Identification and resolution of key business risks Pursuit of modern technologies and systems to drive efficiencies, protect investments and create shareholder value Customer and Supplier Management Drive the relationship-mapping agenda with key suppliers, ensuring adherence to SLA’s and Terms of Reference and consistently pursue enhancements to frameworks Function as the senior interface between Asset Services and Svella Connect and assume a leading role in the evolution of best practice and value creation Develop strategic partnerships Secure new Customers to meet the requirements of the 3-year plan Managing Rental partners Compliance Accountable for the overall compliance of Svella Asset Services; implement a governance and process framework to satisfy legal, corporate and contract compliance Continual review of processes and policies to reflect the changing needs of the business and any shifts in the statutory landscape Ownership of all fleet and compliance standards Management of tooling - including service and compliance of equipment Systems Management (Abax and Service / Calibration compliance) Fuel card management and auditing.
