About Hinkley Point C

The first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years; Hinkley Point C in Somerset will provide low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes, create thousands of jobs and bring lasting benefits to the UK economy.

Marking a significant milestone in the revitalisation of our nuclear power industry, Hinkley Point C will make a major contribution to the UKs move to reduce carbon emissions. The electricity generated by its two EPR reactors will offset 9 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions a year, or 600 million tonnes over its 60-year lifespan.

What you'll be doing

As a Project Engineer (Fire), you will have the following accountabilities.

• To be the MEH JV site wide Temp Fire Alarms & Detectors Installation and
  Commissioning expert and support MEHA permanent Installation & Site Wide Team
• Plan and lead temp fire alarm & detector installation to support MEHA installation
• Fire Engineers must be able to review Fire Risk Assessment completed by MEHA Fire
  Team and suggest an amendment relating to the regulations and best practices.
• Maintain planning schedule and provide weekly progress report.
• Coordinate end-to-end temp fire alarm & detector installation and witness test
• Sing point of contact for technical issues including fault finding and fixing.
• Coordinate with supplier and make sure adequate resources are on site to support
  alarm system.
• Update and maintain temp alarms asset register.
• Maintain site layout to show area MEHA temp alarms & detectors are installed.
• Participate and support fire Audits.
• Organise and update weekly alarm test.

Who we're looking for

Do you have?

• Experience in alarm & detectors installation and commissioning (both Temp and permanent)
• Certification in BAFE and Fire Alarm and Detection (include design, maintenance, installation, and commissioning to meet BS 5839
• Good knowledgeable in Fire Safety Order 2023
• SMSTS site safety training / CCNSG Safety Passport

You must be able to;

• Achieve Security Clearance (BPSS or Higher)
