RESPONSIBILITIES

The role

Our client based in Hazel Grove, Stockport is currently recruiting for a Quality Control Manager to join their existing team on a permanent basis. The responsibilities of this position are varied and not limited to -

Individual responsibilities

  • Quality Assurance Audits: Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with food safety regulations, including HACCP standards and SALSA requirements.
  • Daily Quality Checks: Oversee and perform daily quality checks on production lines to ensure that products meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Lab Testing: Utilize laboratory equipment and procedures to conduct testing on food samples, including milk off the production lines, to assess quality, freshness, and safety.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of quality control activities, audit findings, test results, and corrective actions taken, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Training and Development: Provide training and guidance to production staff on quality control procedures, food safety practices, and regulatory compliance, fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization, quality enhancement, and waste reduction, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions and improvement initiatives.
  • Supplier Management: Evaluate and monitor suppliers based on their adherence to quality standards, product specifications, and regulatory requirements, ensuring consistent quality of raw materials and ingredients.
  • Computer Skills: Utilize computer systems and software applications to generate reports, analyze data, and communicate findings to stakeholders effectively.
  • Budget Management: Assist in the management of the quality control department budget, including procurement of equipment, supplies, and resources necessary for quality assurance activities.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Previous experience in quality control or quality assurance roles within the food industry, with a strong understanding of HACCP principles and experience with SALSA audits.
  • Lab technician experience and proficiency in laboratory testing procedures.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Commitment to upholding high standards of food quality, safety, and compliance.
