Job Description We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Procurement or Project Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in identifying and developing a new subcontract supply chain for a high-profile engineering project at Ultra Maritime, Rugeley. This individual will be responsible for assessing engineering requirements, identifying, and developing supplier capabilities, and managing the chosen solution through to the completion of prototypes, ensuring seamless integration into our supply chain network. This role will require regular travel to supplier sites, so a full driver's licence is essential. Key Responsibilities Lead end-to-end management of subcontract manufacturing, collaborating with cross-functional teams to align project goals and objectives. Quickly gain a strong understanding of the technical intricacies of the product and its manufacturing process, enabling you to anticipate challenges and opportunities effectively with the support of senior engineers. Build robust relationships with subcontractors, ensuring clear expectations, open communication, and adherence to project timelines and quality standards. Employ a strategic yet assertive approach for effective problem-solving. Be a regular presence at subcontractor facilities to actively oversee and ensure adherence to project timelines. Identify, evaluate, and onboard potential motor subcontractors aligned with technical and quality standards. Lead contract negotiations and establish robust relationships, ensuring supplier capabilities and financial stability meet project needs. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to proactively identify and mitigate supply chain risks. Ensure strict adherence to compliance standards through meticulous documentation and checks. Collaborate cross-functionally to maintain cost efficiencies while upholding regulatory requirements. Maintain Gantt/Production tracking tools, submitting regular progress reports to the supply chain manager and wider project team and stakeholders. Ensure a well-documented supplier identification, selection, and onboarding process, involving relevant stakeholders and meeting essential requirements. Monitor market trends, supplier capabilities, and economic factors to safeguard project timelines and objectives.Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering, business management, or a related field. Proven experience in procurement, project management, or supplier relationship roles in a technically demanding environment. Knowledge of electromechanical manufacturing techniques (electrical motors preferred). Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to challenge and negotiate with suppliers when needed. Strong communication skills supporting an ability to communicate key technical information between internal and external stakeholders. Detail-oriented and analytical, with excellent technical and quality control standards. Experience of working within a team-based, multidiscipline environment. Familiarity within Defence/Aerospace industry regulations and compliance standards. Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies, and MS Office. Proficiency in ERP systems, Excel, and project management tools. Willingness to regularly travel to the subcontractor's facilities and supplier sitesPlease note that the successful candidate will need to obtain the relevant security vetting level required for this role.
