Position: Learning Support Assistant with Maths Specialism or Maths Graduate Location: Secondary School in the Haringey Borough Contract Type: Full-Time £90 – 105 a day long term until July 2024/2025 enhanced DBS required About Us: We are a dynamic and inclusive secondary school located in the vibrant Haringey Borough. Committed to providing a supportive and enriching learning environment, we are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant with a maths specialism or a recent maths graduate to join our team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the educational journey of our students. Role Overview: As a Learning Support Assistant with a maths specialism or a recent maths graduate, you will work closely with students to provide targeted support and assistance in mathematics. You will collaborate with teachers to deliver tailored interventions, assist with individual or small group tuition, and help students build confidence and proficiency in maths. The ideal candidate will have a passion for education, strong subject knowledge in mathematics, and a commitment to supporting the academic and personal development of students. Key Responsibilities: * Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with additional learning needs, focusing on mathematics. * Assist with the planning and delivery of differentiated maths lessons, working collaboratively with teachers to adapt materials and resources as needed. * Support students in developing essential mathematical skills, including problem-solving, numeracy, and mathematical reasoning. * Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to teachers, helping to identify areas for improvement and areas of strength. * Foster a positive and supportive learning environment, encouraging students to engage actively with mathematical concepts and develop a growth mindset. * Collaborate with the SENDCO (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator) and other support staff to ensure that students' individual needs are met effectively. * Contribute to the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and other support plans for students with additional learning needs. Qualifications and Experience: A degree in Mathematics or a related subject is highly desirable for this role. Previous experience working with students in an educational setting, particularly in a support or mentoring capacity, is advantageous. Strong subject knowledge and a passion for mathematics, with the ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and accessible manner. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and establish positive relationships. Patience, empathy, and resilience in supporting students with diverse learning needs.
