Quantity Surveyor


We are recruiting a Quantity Surveyor to join our client's team, based out of their Bristol Office. With over two decades of industry expertise, our client has established itself as a leading provider of construction services across multiple regions including Newport, Cardiff, Taunton, Exeter, Swindon, Reading, Southampton, Oxford, Birmingham, and Newbury. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful completion of their projects by effectively managing costs and contracts. Our Client's services range from demolition and site clearance to concrete crushing and recycling, decommissioning and remediation as well as asbestos removal. Key Responsibilities: 1. Cost Estimation: Utilize your expertise to accurately estimate the costs involved in various construction projects, considering materials, labor, and other relevant expenses. 2. Budget Management: Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring that costs are kept within approved limits while maintaining quality standards. 3. Contract Administration: Oversee the preparation, negotiation, and administration of contracts with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients. Ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions. 4. Procurement: Coordinate the procurement process, including obtaining quotations, evaluating suppliers, and negotiating contracts to secure favorable terms. 5. Cost Control: Implement effective cost control measures throughout the project lifecycle, monitoring expenditures and identifying areas for potential savings. 6. Variation Management: Assess and manage variations to the scope of work, evaluating their impact on project costs and timelines. 7. Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize their impact on project delivery. 8. Project Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely reports on project costs, progress, and financial forecasts for internal stakeholders and clients. 9. Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on project objectives and requirements. Requirements: 1. Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field. Additional certifications such as MRICS or MCIOB are preferred. 2. Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry, with a strong track record of successfully managing costs and contracts. 3. Excellent knowledge of construction contracts, procurement processes, and relevant regulations and standards. 4. Proficiency in using quantity surveying software and MS Office applications. Experience with industry-specific software such as CostX or BuildSoft is an advantage. 5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions. 6. Effective communication and negotiation abilities, with the capacity to build positive relationships with stakeholders at all levels. 7. Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work within agreed deadlines. 8. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and resourcefulness in a dynamic work environment. 9. Demolition experience is advantageous but is not required.
