Deputy Building Manager


3 months contract with A Local Authority Job Summary: ·         Provide efficient, effective, and economic building related facilities services to 160 Tooley Street and the Queens Road campus, the council’s administrative headquarters, and allocated ancillary buildings to ensure the optimum working environment fully supports the council’s modern ways of working. ·         Manage the site-based customer/client-facing activities; manage customer relationships and take a proactive approach to establishing and maintaining good relationships and working processes with internal clients and customers. Key Duties/Accountabilities: ·         In the absence of the building manager, lead and manage site-based facilities team and deliver all site-based facilities management services and be the primary point of contact in respect of all reactive and planned preventative maintenance work including building related compliance activity undertaken by contractors.   ·         Liaise and consult with the CFM Technical team on 160 Tooley Street property matters drawing on the technical expertise available from building surveyors, quantity surveyors, architects, or mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineers to ensure the building remains safe and operationally compliant. ·         Operationally manage, monitor, and audit the delivery of contracted services for the building. Ensure all key performance indicators are met and service delivery achieves value for money targets; that enable contractors to produce robust operational performance reports. Develop collaborative working practices with contractors. ·         Manage, develop, and deliver the building event management service ensuring that all planned corporate, democratic / constitutional and community events held at 160 Tooley Street are managed efficiently and delivered on time and within budget. ·         Assist in the planning and management of moves and churn as it relates to 160 Tooley Street and Queens Road in accordance with both the short and the long-term strategic service needs of the council. ·         As the Deputy Building Manager you will assist the Building Managers to lead and manage the site-based facilities management, reception, service desk and access control / time management services, Liaise and consult with various internal teams and contractors to ensure that Tooley St and Queens Road sites remain safe and operationally compliant. ·         You will also assist in Managing and delivering corporate, democratic / constitutional and community events, assist in the planning and management of moves and churn. Essential Experience Required: ·         Experience of managing change, implementing advanced workplace principles (new ways of working) ·         Experience of operational report writing. ·         Experience of budgetary control of capital and revenue spend more than £1million. ·         Previous experience of managing customer focused teams and building relationships in a large multi-site blue chip or government organisation. Essential Qualifications Required: ·         BIFM qualification or evidence of ongoing professional development. ·         Membership of IOSH or equivalent. Additional information to note: ·         Contractual hours of duty are 36 per week. ·         Knowledge of mandatory and statutory building compliance.
