Joinery Estimator

Job Scope Reporting to the Joint Managing Director and Joinery Sales Director, the role is to generate estimates and tenders for the perspective projects allocated to you on a daily / weekly basis in a detailed and professional manner, using the company’s current pricing strategy encompassing current labour rates, margins to achieve current Gross Profit levels. The role requires the calculation of tender pricing from the documents supplied by our client base, in whatever format that might be, but typically drawings, specifications and any additional information, and will typically require the use of current and up to date material pricing sort from our suppliers, or new suppliers as required, and the strategic pricing of labour requirement, both in house manufacturing and when required on site installation. All tendered prices must be calculated with professional acumen and detailed build up. Key Responsibilities * Undertake all estimating duties, estimating a variety of bespoke joinery works for all commercial, residential, office, educational and retail sectors. * To have knowledge of joinery, including an understanding of complimentary materials such as glass, metalwork, solid surfaces etc. * Prepare detailed build ups using best practice pricing principles, and where appropriate consulting with Operations Team to seek the most cost effective methods of construction when estimating roll-out and repeat projects. * Undertake negotiations liaising with Business Development Manager, with client to convert estimates to orders, maintaining desired margins, promoting where necessary value engineering opportunities. * Once projects are won, prepare a standardised format budgets handover document for formal handover to our Design and Operations team detailing the fundamentals of the project and in all cases material pricing levels, labour allowance and critical cost information, along with time crucial elements to the project. * Ensure any variations on a job by job basis are recorded; on larger projects provide surveying function throughout project to ensure full recovery. * To attend quarterly sales and marketing meetings and actively contribute to promote the company seeking new tender opportunities under the direction of the Directors. * Where appropriate and agreed with the Sales Director, follow up pricing with the client to understand the current status of the enquiry, and where we stand with our pricing compared to others. * Liaise with clients on an ad-hoc basis when required to support customer relations, building professional relationships and provide joinery expertise as requested by the said client. * Review supply chain liaising with Procurement Manager to seek opportunities for improving supply chain, offer assistance in terms of material trends and finishes. * Review the current methods of pricing to ensure the most effective methods within the department are employed. General Duties * Behaving in a professional manner at all times, to both internal and external customers. * Ensuring the good name of the company and group is upheld at all times. * Ensure that health & safety standards are maintained at all times.
