Design Project Coordinator – Civil Engineering

Abatec are currently recruiting for a Design Project Coordinator, to join our client, a Civil Engineering contractor, who provide engineering and construction services within the water sector. Our client, who has recently secured a place on a £2.8bn water framework in the South West for AMP8 have an opportunity for an ambitious individual to deliver high quality design and build civil engineering projects on time and within budget. Our client combines the traditional project manager role with the technical skills of an engineer, creating the project leaders/design project coordinator role. The successful individual will be joining a newly established team, where they will lead the design of clean water and non-infrastructure projects through the outline and detailed design, construction, commissioning and handover. As a Design Project Coordinator you will: * Coordinate the project team including Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and Process designers and ensure designs are completed on programme, within budget, and to the quality defined by each framework and industry specifications. * Work as part of a “project triangle” alongside a Site Manager and Quantity Surveyor to ensure that technical, constructability and commercial aspects of project delivery are considered throughout. * Interact with the client and regularly visit site during the construction. Our client requires a Design Project Coordinator with: * Strong communication skills. * An understanding of MEICA works (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control & Automation) and how it interfaces with civils structures. * Extremely organised to ensure that the team stick to programme and ensure project progress. * Ideally BEng Hons Civil Engineering or similar. * Experience working in a similar role for a civil engineering/construction company preferred.
