Lead Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description: Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Lead Manufacturing Engineer will be instrumental in overseeing manufacturing processes, ensuring efficient production, high-quality output, and adherence to safety standards. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement. Responsibilities: Process Development and Optimization: * Design, develop, refine, and optimize manufacturing processes for PCBA’s, sub-assemblies, and box builds, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and scalability. * Collaborate with customers to ensure manufacturability of products, providing input on design for manufacturability (DFM) principles, especially in New Product Introduction (NPI). * Implement Lean manufacturing principles to streamline workflows, minimize waste, and improve overall efficiency. * Conduct thorough analysis of existing processes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions to enhance productivity and quality. Technical Leadership and Problem Solving: * Provide technical leadership and guidance to the manufacturing engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration. * Troubleshoot technical issues in production processes, facilitating root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions. * Act as a subject matter expert on electronic manufacturing processes, materials, and equipment. * Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices, incorporating relevant advancements into processes and workflows. Team Management and Development: * Delegate tasks effectively, aligning responsibilities with team members' skills and capabilities. * Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment, promoting open communication and knowledge sharing. Quality Assurance and Compliance: * Maintain rigorous quality control measures throughout the manufacturing process, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and customer requirements. * Conduct regular audits and inspections to monitor adherence to quality standards, identifying opportunities for improvement. * Collaborate with quality assurance teams to investigate and address non-conformities, implementing corrective and preventive actions. Cross-functional Collaboration: * Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of manufacturing activities with overall business objectives. * Engage with suppliers and external partners to evaluate new technologies, materials, and processes. * Champion collaborative initiatives aimed at improving cross-functional communication and coordination. Continuous Improvement and Innovation: * Drive continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing processes, leveraging data-driven analysis and performance metrics. * Lead cost reduction efforts, process enhancements, and efficiency improvements. * Implement best practices and methodologies for continuous improvement. Qualifications and Experience: * Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably in Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical, or Mechanical. * Proven experience in electronic manufacturing, with a minimum in a lead or supervisory role. * Strong technical expertise in electronic assembly processes, including SMT, through-hole assembly, soldering techniques, PCB assembly, and box build. * Proficiency in Lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and quality management systems. * Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. * Effective communication and interpersonal skills. * Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and continuous improvement. * Strong project management skills. * Knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards applicable to electronic manufacturing. * Familiarity with CAD/CAM software, SAP systems, and MES preferred.
