CARE COORDINATOR - DAY CENTRE


MAIN PURPOSE This position entails joining a pivotal stage of development within the Opportunity Zone (Day Centre) catering to adults with Learning Disabilities. The incumbent will report to the Project Manager, overseeing the day-to-day operations and activities of the Day Centre, ensuring the promotion and upkeep of the highest professional standards and care practices. The primary responsibility of the role is to provide social care and support to attendees of the Centre. This involves collaborating with the Project Manager and fellow staff to establish a diverse range of activities and foster a stimulating environment. The overarching challenge is to meet the varied needs of service users, enhance their day service experience, optimize the utilization of the day centre facilities, and oversee the implementation and enhancement of existing and new services. MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Assist the Project Manager in daily management, administration, and ensuring quality service delivery. 2. Supervise support workers and other personnel involved in Day Care Services, ensuring adherence to best practices and provision of individualized, safe, and responsive service to users. 3. Support the Project Manager in conducting regular 1:1 staff supervision sessions to enhance their skills and knowledge through on-the-job mentoring, guidance, and appropriate training. 4. Develop, maintain, and enhance a structured program of activities catering to the needs of service users, encompassing social, cultural, and personal growth aspects. 5. Facilitate the promotion of independence in daily living for service users, maintaining their dignity, individuality, and confidence, while offering support as required. 6. Plan and provide support for service users in meeting physical and psychological needs outlined in personal care plans, including toileting, feeding, and mobility. 7. Arrange for stimulating social activities to encourage engagement and exploration of broader opportunities for emotional and physical fulfillment, ensuring equality of opportunity, choice, and privacy. 8. Coordinate support for service users requiring assistance with life skills training, both within the Day Care Centre and beyond as necessary. 9. Cultivate trusting relationships with service users, demonstrating understanding and tolerance towards their diverse personal needs and requests for assistance. 10. Organize support for service users in developing life skills within the Day Care Centre and elsewhere, as needed. 11. Stay abreast of relevant legislation, regulations, and procedures affecting service delivery, including health and safety, safeguarding, and confidentiality. 12. Arrange training sessions for support workers on relevant legislation and procedural requirements for effective service delivery. 13. Manage social media accounts and campaigns as required by organizational needs. 14. Undertake tasks necessary for maintaining service efficiency within the scope of the role. 15. Attend staff meetings and support the Project Manager in maintaining personal capabilities and competencies through supervision and appraisal systems, as well as agreed training. 16. Assist the Project Manager in monitoring tasks related to the service, including record-keeping and updating documentation. The role requires maintaining strict confidentiality regarding service users' personal information and adhering to organizational policies even beyond employment tenure. This job description is subject to revision in accordance with future policy changes and will undergo annual review. PERSON SPECIFICATION ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE SUMMARY 1. Possession of LDQ/NVQ level 3 Qualification and a minimum of two years' experience in care settings. 2. Understanding of learning and physical disabilities and their impact on adults/young adults. 3. Experience working with individuals with learning disabilities, including autism, complex communication needs, and challenging behaviors. 4. Proficiency in managing safeguarding investigations, protection plans, and communication with multidisciplinary teams. 5. Familiarity with Valuing People core principles and practical application. 6. Experience in project and financial management, including budgeting, and administrative procedures. 7. Understanding of Support Workers' needs and methods of support. 8. Knowledge of Person-Centred Planning and implementation in daily operations. 9. Familiarity with relevant legislations, policies, and procedures in a Day Care Service environment. 10. Understanding of Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety policies, and commitment to implementation. 11. Effective communication skills across diverse audiences. 12. Strong networking capabilities with various organizations and agencies. 13. Ability to organize diverse Day Care activities and service provisions. 14. Proficiency in maintaining accurate records and documentation for monitoring and evaluation purposes
