Maintenance Electrician


We are currently recruiting for Maintenance Electrician for a well-established In-House Estates division based in the heart of Uxbridge. This is a temp to perm role paying GBP25.17 per hour (Umbrella rate). If the contract becomes a permanent post, you will also receive a total annual holiday entitlement consisting of up to 35 days per annum comprising a basic annual leave entitlement, currently 24 days, plus eight bank holidays and up to six extra statutory days at Christmas and Easter, an enhanced pension scheme, opportunities for overtime, subsidised onsite parking, plus more!

As an Electrical Maintenance Technician, you will be joining a team of skilled, qualified trade staff who provide vital planned and reactive maintenance services to the University s buildings and infrastructure. Reporting to the Electrical Infrastructure Delivery Manager you will be responsible for ensuring the University s estate is maintained to the highest standards. You will enjoy a varied range of daily tasks on the campus such as:

  • Acting as a qualified Electrical tradesperson within the Estates Infrastructure team, supporting the residential and non-residential estate acting as a point of reference and providing advice in relation to area of specialism.
  • Carrying out minor Electrical installation works across a variety of university facilities, planning required resources and the scheduling of works.
  • Diagnosing and investigating faults on domestic, industrial single and three phase installations, and identifying and recommending solutions to rectify the faults.
  • Undertaking statutory planned, reactive maintenance tasks and Inspections on engineering systems that include Low Voltage Electrical Systems, Standby Electrical systems, HVAC Automatic controls, critical and non-critical ventilation systems.
  • Gaining knowledge of BMS systems
  • Interpreting Risk Assessments and Method Statements, to always work in a safe manner
  • Using a CAFM system and PDA device
  • Offering first class customer service at all times

If you are looking for a highly skilled Electrical Maintenance Technician role focusing on the crucial tasks around Electrical maintenance, then this is the role for you! This role could include working at heights, manual handling, and working in confined spaces.

We are looking for Maintenance Electrician with:

  • City and Guilds/ NVQ Level 3 and 18th edition; you must be a fully qualified Electrician
  • City and Guilds 2391 or equivalent (inspection and testing)
  • Experience of working as a Maintenance Electrician, with experience of electrical building services maintenance covering the duties mentioned above
  • A strong understanding of health and safety and building legislation and regulations
  • A driving licence is desirable but not essential
  • Strong IT skills
  • Immediately available, or available at short notice.
  • A team player and a great communicator
  • Good organisation and timekeeping skills
  • A positive attitude with a focus on delivering high class maintenance services

Within this Temp to Perm Electrician role you will have the opportunity to work on a myriad of buildings including academic buildings, sports facilities, student hubs, hospitality venues and centres, research facilities and student accommodation. The estate is formed of both modern buildings and original buildings making the campus an interesting place to work as a skilled Maintenance Electrician. You will be reporting to committed and driven Managers, you will feel inspired both by the impactful estate on which you are working, and by the leaders of your team.

Working hours are Monday-Friday, 08:30-16:30.

Some overtime maybe available.
