Based in beautiful Westerham, Kent, Valence School is a local authority maintained school, supporting students 4-19 years with complex medical needs. We have our own team of nurses to meet the needs of both day and boarding students.

We are seeking a Nurse Manager who would welcome the opportunity to lead the practice delivery within our school. As part of a wider health team, we are keen to find an individual who enjoys working collaboratively to find solutions and who demonstrates empathy and understanding and who is uncompromising in their desire to attain the best care for our students.

Supported by a team of Health Care Assistants, our nurses will deliver staff training, which is evidence-based on a range of nursing interventions and will assess levels of staff competence, developing a robust programme of teaching and training. Nurses will contribute to the assessment of students on admission and following any change in needs, work with external agencies to facilitate specialist clinics and immunisation programmes, support the development and review of student care plans, manage medication within the school and maintain student's emergency protocols.

We require an individual who is confident in their understanding of evidence-based practice and who are able to prioritise their work to provide direct care, assessment and support when required. As the role will involve training and mentoring to develop staff competencies, you will have the mentorship qualification as this would be desirable, or an interest in training others.

At Valence School, we celebrate diversity and recognise the benefit of having a multidisciplinary team. We therefore welcome applications from nurses within Adult, Children or Learning Disability fields. To meet the needs of our students, we are particularly interested in applicants with experience in respiratory care, tracheostomy care, suctioning, enteral feeds, jejunostomy and gastrostomy care. In return, you will be provided with regular support and clinical supervision, support with validation, a bespoke induction and a rewarding and interesting post.
