Lead Engineer – Power Electronics Design

About the Role Our customer is undergoing major transformation to electrify the powertrains of passenger cars. The UK R&D Centre is at the forefront of this work to develop the future generation of electrified, connected, and intelligent powertrains. We are looking for an experienced power electronics hardware Technical Specialist / Lead Engineer to join us to lead our work in this area. Requirements * A minimum of ten years experience is essential and preferably some of this will be in automotive * Deep experience of Power Electronics Design ideally including Automotive Inverters with experience of “Design for Manufacture” * Knowledge of power electronic devices, including silicon based IGBTs and MOSFETs through to emerging SiC / GaN based technologies: gate driver, control architecture and measurement circuits, selection/characterisation of devices for inverter * Experience of relevant CAD/CAE tools for the design of Power Electronic products * Experience of working with teams of engineers designing and testing power electronics * Experience of RA/SSOW in an HV test environment * Evidence of achieving results through effective work against objectives Duties & Responsibilities * Lead the design of power electronics hardware for traction drive and power conversion systems * Design power electronics systems: IGBT/SiC drives, power converter including transistor selection, gate drive design, power inverter design, measurements circuits, microprocessor selection and protection strategies * Support the development of electrical and electronics architecture for e-drive applications including HV harness and connectors schematics * Perform analysis/simulation of electrical and thermal performance * Design and build power electronics test and measurement equipment for internal development activity * Provide expertise for investigations and problem-solving activities * Lead the hardware DFMEA and support functional safety analysis Other: * Role based in UK with occasional travel to other sites including worldwide on development trips and to visit suppliers is a requirement * Must be eligible to work in the UK with permanent visa or residence (candidates requiring visa sponsorship cannot be accepted for this role) Apply noew fore more information and immediate review
