About the Company A leading regional contractor based close to Wigan are looking for an experienced Commercial Manager to join their team. This business specialise in the delivery of civil engineering and utilities focused work, upgrading and maintaining essential power distribution infrastructure on behalf of a range of highly sought after clients in the Energy space. The business have over twenty years successful trading behind them, and have enjoyed substantial growth in the past few years. This role will oversee a growing team of established Quantity Surveyors, and will report into the Directors. As Commercial Manager you will will play a critical role in growing the business further, with exciting development opportunities along the way. Given the size of the business, systems and commercial processes are straight forward and effective, and decisions can be made quickly. About the Role As Commercial Manager, you will be fundamental part of the Senior Leadership Team delivering works in the North West of England. You will build and lead a high performing team with significant opportunity for development through business growth; consistently driving a culture of margin improvement. You will be a key figure in managing and owning the client relationship ensuring the maximisation of the business commercially. You will be essential in managing and working collaboratively with the client Stakeholders. Key Responsibilities • Whilst the role of Head of Commercial is heavily focused on managing company finances, CVR and managing Client relationships, there’s also a requirement for the individual to ensure governance to processes, procedures and regulations. • Overseeing Contract Performance against Key Performance Indicators • Working closely and collaboratively with Contract Stakeholders • Offering leadership, direction, and instruction to Commercial staff • Focus around working to contract year budgets, both internally & for the Client • Business development & growth by continued outperformance for existing Clients • Monitoring & contractual understanding recognising risks. • Subcontractor Account management • Reviewing and developing Operational processes to improve Contract performance and maximise opportunity/growth • Contractual Risk Management • Strong ability to manage Compensation Event change process. Behavioural Competencies • Strong desire to further Client relationships whilst ensuring that contractual conditions are not compromised. • Good communication and negotiation skills • Leads from the front to continually strive to improve performance. • Enthusiastic and driven – takes responsibility and accountability for delivering results in conjunction with the Senior Leadership Team • Looks for solutions and drives resolutions • Proactive management of challenges both for the Client & Internally • Make considered analysis and interpretation of data to assess risk and implement viable solutions What's Required You are an experienced Commercial Manager, or Managing Quantity Surveyor looking to take the next step in your career. You have experience leading a team of Quantity Surveyors, and have worked on high volume contracts before. Ideally you are Degree qualified, with strong NEC/ FIDIC experience essential. Ideally you have worked in the utilities or civil engineering sectors previously.
