Project Control Accountant Are you looking to progress your career by working on Britain’s biggest construction project? Balfour Beatty VINCI is working with a range of organisations to design and build 90km West Midlands stretch of HS2 - Britain’s new high speed railway. Our work is essential to enable HS2 trains to travel between London and Birmingham as well as continue their journey up to Manchester. It’s an incredibly exciting time to join us - we’re at peak construction with work really ramping up on a broad range of assets including bridges, tunnels and viaducts. Plus you’d join 9,000 people across 72 nationalities working on this exciting section of HS2 across the region. We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Project Control Accountant within the finance function. This role will be based on site in Water Orton. In This role, you will be responsible for overseeing the control of the scope of works, with monthly reporting, budget monitoring, and forecast follow-up. Cost Monitoring • Implement robust cost monitoring systems to track expenses, ensuring they align with the approved budget. • Analyze cost variances and discrepancies, investigating and providing explanations for any deviations. • Ensure meticulous coding of all expenses to prevent disallowed costs. Financial Reporting • Generate regular financial reports detailing project costs, forecasts, and financial performance. • Communicate financial updates to relevant stakeholders, highlighting potential risks and opportunities for cost savings. • Prepare timely Ad-hoc breakdowns of costs, scenarios, and efficiencies upon request. Budget Management • Develop and maintain project budgets in collaboration with project managers, commercials, and other stakeholders. • Regularly review and update EAC based on project progress, scope changes, and unforeseen circumstances. Forecasting • Develop accurate and reliable cost forecasts. • Collaborate with project teams to identify potential cost overruns and implement proactive measures to mitigate risks. Experienced required • Master’s degree in finance • Proven experience as a Accountant. • Strong financial analysis and reporting skills. • Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure. • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power BI is essential. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. We started working together over 30 years ago to deliver the Channel Tunnel, as members of the TransManche Link consortium. In the Midlands, it is Balfour Beatty VINCI’s role to design and build the route, ready for tracks and signalling to be installed. Our work with HS2 Balfour Beatty VINCI have been awarded a 90km section of the HS2 project from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and then on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.
