Neuro Speech & Language Therapist


Blackstone Recruitment are working with a Private client who are recruiting a Lead/ Specialist Neuro Speech and Language Therapist to join their new facility based in South London. This is a Permanent job to start ASAP. They will also consider a locum. Job Summary: * Provide, maintain and review a comprehensive client-focused, highly specialist Rehabilitation service for patients from 16 years old and above. This service will involve carers, families and service providers. * Provide clinical leadership in the area of Speech and Language l rehabilitation, covering a range of neurological and complex disorders. * Act in a consultancy role, for all clinical staff, in addressing complex patient issues in neurological rehabilitation. * Provide clinical supervision to junior staff and rehabilitation assistants. * Work in a collaborative manner with existing services and new service developments in order to contribute to the ongoing development of the Service and to lead on service developments and initiatives in the area of Speech and Language therapy. * Carry a specialist caseload and work with team members to assess, plan and implement appropriate rehabilitation programmes. This will include close working with other agencies and provider groups within primary and secondary care. * Initiate and direct research and clinical audit within the service relevant to this area of expertise Clinical Responsibilities: 1. Be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work – ensure that work is performed within professional standards and clinical guidelines 2. Be responsible for overseeing the Speech and Language Therapy team including rotas, division of clients and therapy sessions, professional development, supervision of the Speech and Language Therapy team members, conflict resolution within the team and between therapy teams, escalating as required to the Head of Rehabilitation. 3. To undertake uni-professional, multi-professional and specialist Speech and Language Therapy assessments using evidence-based outcome measures, Clients are 16 years and over and have complex neurological conditions, including cognitive impairments. 4. To perform specific assessments of auditory, visual and kinaesthetic aspects of a client’s communication and to identify appropriate strategies to facilitate and enhance communicative effectiveness in all aspects of life. 5. To carry out highly specialist physical examination of the orofacial process including the mechanism of eating and swallowing. 6. To implement treatment programmes, goal and care plans to ensure the patient is cared for and an effective rehabilitation programme is implemented. 7. To employ manual dexterity in the manipulation and stimulation of the oral facial process Job Specifics Salary: £ Competitive with agenda for change and LW (as applicable) - Negotiable Band 7/8 equivalent Working Hours: 40 hours - Mon – Friday Contract Type: Permanent Essential Criteria 1. Diploma or degree in Speech and Language therapist 2. Current HPC registration and License to Practise from the Royal College of Speech and Language therapists 3. Completed dysphagia training to an intermediate level 4. Evidence of CPD relevant to the treatment of people with neurological disabilities 5. Up to date CPD portfolio 6. Training in appraisal / supervision 7.
